3 Ways to Ripen bananas

Description

3 simple methods for ripening bananas. These are the perfect methods for when you need ripe bananas right away.

Ingredients

  1. Firm bananas – however many your recipe calls for.

Instructions

Microwave Method

  • Place 3-4 bananas in a microwave-safe bowl. I prefer to use a glass bowl because there is more visual access. Microwave in 30-second increments until you reach the desired softness. Take a fork and mash the bananas to test their texture, If they are soft, wet, and mushy, you have reached the desired outcome for using bananas in baked desserts.

Oven Method

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F. Place 3-4 bananas on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes. Check every 10 minutes until you reach the desired consistency. The bananas should be very mushy and wet when you press them with a fork.

Bown Bag Method

  • Place 3-4 bananas with the skins on in a large brown paper bag. Completely close the paper bag, and store it in a semi-warm and dry location. After only a few hours the bananas will begin to repine, and even form brown spots. That’s when you know the bababnsa are doing their thing!
