Microwave Method
- Place 3-4 bananas in a microwave-safe bowl. I prefer to use a glass bowl because yu will get a better view of what’s cookin’!
- Microwave the bananas in 30-second increments until you reach the desired mushiness. Take a fork and mash the bananas to test their texture. If they are soft, very wet, and mushy, you have reached the desired outcome for using bananas in baked desserts.
Oven Method
- Preheat your oven to 425°F. Place 3-4 bananas on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes. Check every 10 minutes. Mash with a fork. The bananas should be very mushy and wet.
Brown Bag Method
This method takes a little longer than the other methods but much faster than ripening them the old-fashioned way. Letting bananas ripen in a room-temperature area usually takes a day or two to ripen and longer for an extremely ripened state.
- Place 3-4 bananas with the skins on in a large brown paper bag. Completely close the paper bag, and store it in a semi-warm and dry location. After a few hours, the bananas will begin to ripen and form brown spots. That’s when you know the bananas are doing their thing!
