Feeling Inspired!
Today I felt so inspired to create a new recipe. So, I gathered the ingredients I needed and created this yummy hearty-rustic hot cereal. It turned out beautifully. For this recipe I replaced white sugar with agave syrup. AND where has agave syrup been all my life? I’ve always known about agave. I even tasted it once and thought it wasn’t for me. However, this time I really loved the flavor. My pre-diabties has reversed, so it’s nice to use a sweetener that is low on the glycemic index. Total win!
Feeling the Feels
Lately I’ve been feeling all the feels. Sensitive and emotional because my mom is starting to slowly succumb to two different types of dementia. And as I start to transition my food blog work over to helping people who are recovering from chemotherapy, many emotion from my own experience with cancer and treatment are surfacing. It’s important and OK to spend a little time reflecting and feeling those emotions.
Always in Moderation
Remember, even though agave syrup has a low glycemic index, and like with any sweetener, it’s important to use them in moderation. Especially those who are recovering from chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Quite often our stomach isn’t quite the same and can be sensitive to many foods. Especially sweeteners. My rule of thumb is eat healthy foods that make you go YUMMM! Sometimes sweet things can fullfil that craving for the yum, but always consult with your physician for advice first.
I would love to hear your story

I am a huge fan of everything related to cereals and granola… and I literally love agave syrup.
I didn’t know the precautions for chemotherapy and radiation, so thank you for introducing me to this.

I would have loved this recipe when I was on a low-iodine diet pre radiation. The only modification would be to remove the salt or replace it with a non-iodized version.
